Clay Cross Active Leisure Development
Welcome to Clay Cross Active
Coming Soon
North East Derbyshire District Council is committed to improving its leisure services for those who live, work and visit our district.
We are investing a massive £29m in our four leisure centres, to improve facilities for residents of all ages and make them more financially and environmentally sustainable.
In Clay Cross, we have ambitious plans to replace Sharley Park Leisure Centre with a brand new community hub, comprising of a leisure centre, health provision and support services, with an anticipated completion timeframe in 2025.
We will also be planting trees as a commitment to decarbonisation and aiming to reduce CO2e levels.
Activities for all
Clay Cross Active will provide a place to be active, both physically and mentally. The new hub has been designed with the local community in mind and will provide activities to improve health, learning, development and social interaction.
A consultation survey was carried out in May 2022, with 95% of respondents in favour of the upgrade and 68% of respondents stated they’d use the centre more often if it was redeveloped. Of the proposed facilities, the top 3 activities that respondents stated they would use the most were swimming (81%), the cafe (55%) and the gym (45%).
Clay Cross Active will provide the following:
- A large, modern fitness suite
- Spin studio
- Sports hall
- Main pool and learner pool with spectator seating
- Changing places facility
- Treatment rooms
- Innerva wellness suite
- Soft play and interactive play
- Community café
Citizens Advice North East Derbyshire will also be based in the new Clay Cross Active, providing drop-in advice sessions on a daily basis plus pre-booked appointments for clients.
